Where to Find Your Kitchen Appliance's Serial and Model Number?

When you don't know your appliance serial and model numbers, check inside doors, sidewalls, control panels, or its back or bottom. If unsure, refer to the user manual, purchase receipt, manufacturer's website, or call customer support.

How to Find Your Kitchen Appliance's Serial and Model Number

Knowing your kitchen appliance's serial and model number is important for warranty claims, repairs, part replacements, and troubleshooting issues. Having this information at hand when you contact the manufacturer, the insurance company or repair services will save you time and frustration, especially if you are on the phone and need to find it quickly.

Why Do You Need Your Appliance's Serial and Model Number?

Serial numbers are unique for each appliance, whereas its model number holds information about what type of appliance, and which model you have. It makes it easier to identify specific appliances, and you'll need them for:

  • Registering your warranty
  • Ordering replacement parts
  • Scheduling repairs
  • Looking up the user manual
  • Checking recall notices

Where to Find Serial and Model Numbers on Different Kitchen Appliances

Refrigerator

Where to Look:

  • Inside the fridge on the sidewall or ceiling
  • Behind the crisper drawers
  • On the door frame when you open the fridge
  • Back of the appliance (near the compressor)

Tip: If your fridge has a pull-out bottom freezer, the information you are looking for might be along the top or side of the compartment.

Freezer

Where to Look:

  • Inside the freezer compartment, usually on a sidewall or near the top
  • Behind the removable drawers or storage racks
  • Back of the appliance (especially for chest freezers)

Tip: If you have a combined fridge-freezer, check the fridge's model plate.

Washing Machine

Where to Look:

  • Inside the door or lid (check along the frame)
  • Behind the detergent drawer (for front-loading washing machines)
  • On the back panel of the machine
  • Underneath the washer (you might have to tilt the machine slightly)

Tip: If you have a top-loading washer, check under the lid near the hinges.

Washer-Dryer

Where to Look:

  • Inside the door frame (usually on the side)
  • Behind the detergent drawer
  • On the back or side panels

Tip: The washer and dryer components may have separate model numbers, make sure to find both if available.

Electric Oven & Cooker

Where to Look:

  • Inside the oven door frame (visible when you open the door)
  • On the back of the cooker
  • Underneath or behind the control panel
  • Under the cooktop (for electric ranges)
  • Behind the storage drawer (if applicable) - check the sides or back

Tip: For built-in ovens, the model number is usually inside the door frame or under the control panel.

Dishwasher

Where to Look:

  • Inside the door frame (usually on the left or right side)
  • On the top edge of the door
  • Underneath the kickplate (bottom panel)

Tip: If you can't find it, remove the bottom panel and check near the motor.

Cooker Hood

Where to Look:

  • Underneath the hood (on the metal casing or filter area)
  • Inside the hood near the fan or motor
  • On the side or back of the unit
  • Along the edge of the control panel

Tip: If your cooker hood has a removable grease filter, you might have to take it out as labels could be inside the unit.

Wine Cooler & Beverage Fridge

Where to Look:

  • On the inside the door frame
  • Inside on the side or back wall
  • Underneath the appliance

Tip: If the cooler has removable shelves, check behind them.

How to Read the Model and Serial Number Label

Once you find the appliance's label, you'll see the following information:

  • Model Number - This identifies the appliance type, series, and features.
  • Serial Number - This is your appliance's unique number, and it should also include its manufacture date.

What If You Can't Find the Serial or Model Number?

Check in the User Manual: The model number is usually listed on the cover or first page in most manuals.
Look at the Purchase Receipt: Retailers often include the model number in your order details.
Check the Manufacturer's Website: Some brands have a number finder, where you can enter the product's details to retrieve the model's number.
Contact Customer Support: If you still can't find the information you need, contact the manufacturer.
